Himeji and Nagoya castles
Himeji castle We stopped at Himeji to visit the castle on the way back to Tokyo from Hiroshima. We were able to leave our (carry on) luggage in a locker at the station which made the whole thing very easy. The castle is a pleasant walk from the station. We have now visited several Japanese... Tsukiji fish market
Tsukiji fish market is a great way to spend a couple of hours and maybe enjoy an early lunch - you will never eat fresher sushi elsewhere. It's not particularly cheap and it has become very popular with tourists so can be quite busy but is still worth a visit.
Ubud
We enjoyed our stay in Ubud once we discovered the back roads rather than the busy main streets. We found some great restaurants and enjoyed our day at Cafe Wayan cooking school there. At cooking school

Kata beach, Phuket, Thailand
We've been to Phuket a few times and the last two times we chose to stay at Kata beach. This part of the island is a little quieter than around the Patong area but still close enough to visit the shops and restaurants there.
Jalan Alor, Kuala Lumpur’s eat street
We've visited KL a few times and after the first time always make sure we swing by here for a meal. It's become a bit of a circus but it's still a good cheap eat and a bit of fun.
Jimbaran Intercontinental hotel
We chose to spend five nights here and it was an excellent decision. From the amazing breakfast at Taman Gita each morning to the massive pool and great restaurants, there was nothing more we could ask for. We tried three of the four restaurants in the resort and although all were good our favourite was... Continue Reading →
Hakone Open Air Museum
Art is not really my thing but I was outnumbered on one of our visits to Japan so we combined a trip to see Mt Fuji with the Hakone Open Air Museum and I actually enjoyed it! Not crowded like some museums and plenty of fresh air. It's pretty large so allow enough time to... Continue Reading →
Hoi An
We first visited Hoi An for five days during a three week trip to Vietnam and we liked it so much we went back a few years later for a ten day stay. Hoi An is a World Heritage site as its historical buildings remain in their original condition. It is a pretty little village,... Continue Reading →
