Although this is pretty much purely for tourists, it is an easy commute from Amsterdam and one of the best places to see real windmills and historic houses. There is also a souvenir shop which sells clogs, amongst other things.

Gardens by the Bay

Yu Garden, Shanghai
The Yu, or Yuyuan, Garden was first built in 1559. It covers about five acres and is a great way to spend an hour or two.
Nagasaki

Halong Bay
Halong Bay is a great side trip from Hanoi but I urge anyone to spend at least two nights on the water in order to see as much as possible. We did a two night cruise on the Halong Ginger which was quite nice. The photos speak for themselves.
